Some people like the canned meat called Spam, but nobody likes the Spam that comes into our email inboxes and blog comments.
I have been inundated by Spam comments coming into the blog associated with this site. Even though I moderate all comments, and am the only one who sees this garbage, I decided to do something in an attempt to slow, and possibly stop, this abuse. I have added a Captcha field to the comment form. This is not your run of the mill Captcha with indecipherable letters and numbers, but instead a fun Captcha where you drag and drop a picture in accordance with the instructions. Simple, fun, and easy.
We already have a more traditional, but easy to read Captcha on our contact form, and that will remain. If you have any difficulty with either of these please let me know. Thanks.
Since adding the Captcha, spam has dropped to nothing. Since it has done an excellent job of foiling the spam posting robots it will remain as a permanent fixture.
